학생들 혹은 학부모님들이 자주하는 질문이 EC 많이 하면 좋은 학교가는데 도움되나요? 입니다. 만약 학생이 TOP6인 대학에 지원한다면 다음의 7점까지의 활동이 상당히 효과를 갖게 됩니다. 하지만 여기서 거론된 활동 중 7점 미만의 활동만으로 TOP6 대학으로의 합격에 생각만큼 도움이 되지 않습니다. 반대로 국제올림피아드(메이저 4대 분야)에서 금메달이라면 MIT도 고려할 수 있습니다. 하지만 그런 학생도 최소 SAT 점수가 1500점은 넘겨야 합니다. 또한 D1도 마찬가지로 대학에서 최소 SAT 점수를 요구합니다. 

다음은 확실한 효과를 볼 수 있는 활동들을 여러 사이트를 이용해 발췌해서 개인적인 경험(빨간색)과 함께 정리하였습니다.

미국대학중에 가기 어려운 엠아이티, 하버드, 스탠퍼드, 프린스턴, 예일, 칼텍 정도의 대학을 준비하는 학생에게 도움이 될 만한 Activities는 7-8점 이상의 활동입니다. 활동으로 좋은 인상을 심어줄 수 있으며 참가한 대부분의 학생들이 아이비급 정도의 대학으로 진학합니다. 추천해 주고 싶은 활동은 RSI (Research Science Institute; 대부분 영재고에서 선발), 세계올림피아드 대회 Bronze이상의 우승 (일단 국내에서 대표팀으로 선발되어야 합니다. 대부분 서울과학고/ 일부 경기과학고와 부산영재고(KSA) 재학생들로 4대 메이저 (IBO, IMO, IPhO, IChO) 올림피아드 국가대표팀으로 구성됩니다.) Siemens Westinghouse finalists, MOP, TASP, USPhO/USChO/USABO/USAC National Finalist 미국 올림파이드 우승자등이 있습니다. 

5점 이하이거나 거론대지 않는 활동이나 대회는 무의미한 시간 낭비일 수 있으니 계획을 잘 세우시길 바랍니다.
